Around 100 Australian soldiers have arrived in Uruzgan Province in southern Afghanistan as part of Australia's contribution to the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF).
They will spearhead Australia's commitment of about 400 personnel and light armoured vehicles in support of reconstruction efforts.
The Australians will provide skills training to the local population. Construction of the training school is already underway.
Australia's commitment is in partnership with the Netherlands, which leads the Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) in Tarin Kowt, Uruzgan Province.
