NATO Deputy Secretary General Alessandro Minuto-Rizzo congratulated Ambassador Joachim Rücker on his appointment as Head of UNMIK.
"I note that the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mr Kofi Annan, has appointed H. E. Ambassador Joachim Rücker from Germany to replace H. E. Soren Jessen-Petersen as his Special Representative and Head of the United Nations Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) with effect from 1 September 2006. Having served as Head of the Reconstruction Pillar in UNMIK, Ambassador Rücker knows the region well and will be able to provide the continuity which the region needs. I congratulate the Ambassador and wish him every success in his new duties. For their part, NATO and KFOR will endeavour to work closely with him for the good of the people and the future of Kosovo."
