On 11 April, a monument to the Slovak personnel who lost their lives while flying home from Kosovo on 19 January was unveiled at the Headquarters of the NATO-led peacekeeping force in Kosovo, KFOR.
Slovak Minister of Defense, Martin Fedor, and KFOR Commander, Lt. General Giuseppe Valotto, unveiled the commemoratory plaque with local and Slovak journalists in attendance.
This will be a permanent tribute to the soldiers. Following the tragic accident in January, staff at NATO HQ observed a minute of silence and the NATO Secretary General attended the funeral ceremonies in Slovakia.
