A group of parliamentarians from the National Defence Committee of the Polish Parliament visited NATO HQ, as well as NATO commands in the Netherlands and Germany, from 27 to 28 March.

The parliamentarians, led by the Chairman of the Committee, Bogdan Zdrojewski, met with NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer and were briefed by members of NATO’s international staff.

Discussions focused on the political agenda for the upcoming NATO Summit in Riga, this November, as well as Poland’s contribution to NATO’s operations and missions.

This was the first visit by Polish parliamentarians following the 2005 parliamentary election in Poland.

The group also visited NATO’s Joint Force Component HQ in Brunssum, the Netherlands, as well as NATO’s fleet of special radar aircraft, also knows as AWACS in Geilenkirchen, Germany.
