The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Agim Ceku, had a meeting with NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer on 22 March. Discussions focused mainly on the ongoing UN-led negotiations on Kosovo's future status, which has been administered by the UN since 1999.

The Secretary General’s key message to the prime minister was to stress the need for progress on the implementation of standards in Kosovo. These standards concern issues such as the situation of minority groups, freedom of movement and the return of refugees, as well as institution-building and encouraging minorities to participate in the provisional structures of self-government.
