NATO’s Public Diplomacy Division and the Dubai-based Gulf Research Centre organised on 26 September the first conference co-sponsored by the Alliance in one of the countries party to NATO’s Istanbul Cooperation Initiative.
The conference, entitled “NATO-Gulf Relations in the Framework of the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative ”, brings together opinion leaders and officials from the six countries invited by NATO to join this new Initiative.
Launched at the 2004 NATO Summit in Istanbul, the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative aims to contribute to long-term global and regional security by offering countries of the broader Middle East region practical bilateral security cooperation with NATO.
