The Secretary General of NATO, Mr. Jaap de Hoop Scheffer, will travel to Warsaw on Monday, 7 June 2004.

The Secretary General of NATO, Mr. Jaap de Hoop Scheffer, will travel to Warsaw on Monday, 7 June 2004.

He will chair the third High-Level NATO-Ukraine Consultations with participation of Defence Ministers from NATO countries and Ukraine. The conference is co-organised by NATO and the Polish Institute of International Affairs. Participants will discuss, inter alia, implementation of defence and security sector reforms in Ukraine, as well as further operational co-operation between NATO and Ukraine.

A joint press conference of the Secretary General, Mr. Yevhen Marchuk, Minister of Defence of Ukraine and Mr. Jerzy Szmajdzinski, Minister of Defence of Poland will take place at 16.00.

Additionally, on the margins of the conference, representatives of NATO and Ukraine will sign the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Strategic Airlift.
