The Secretary General of NATO, Mr. Jaap de Hoop Scheffer, will be visiting Washington on Monday 29th March and attend the ceremony at the White House marking the accession of the seven new NATO countries: Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia, Slovenia and Romania.

During the visit he will be meeting with a number of senior officials, including President Bush, Vice-President Cheney, Secretary of State Powell and National Security Adviser Rice. He will also meet with the Prime Ministers of the seven new countries, as well as the Prime Ministers of the three Membership Action Plan countries.
