NATO Secretary General de Hoop Scheffer visited the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (ª) on 5 March 2004 to attend the burial ceremony of President Trajkovski.
He expressed on behalf of the Alliance his deepest condolences to the government and people of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia following President Trajkovski's tragic death.
The ceremony was also attended by NATO's former Secretary General, Lord Robertson.
(ª) Turkey recognises the Republic of Macedonia with its constitutional name.
