The Secretary General of NATO announced today that Yves Brodeur will step down as NATO Spokesman as of 31st August 2003. Brodeur will return to the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade in Ottawa, Canada, as Director General, Communications after serving two and a half years as Spokesman for the Alliance.

"Yves Brodeur did an outstanding job" said the Secretary General . "The past two and a half years have been remarkable in more than one way for the Alliance. Brodeur performed superbly whatever the circumstances. His skills, tact and experience were an asset for NATO. On behalf of NATO I want to express my gratitude for the exceptional contribution he made to the Alliance and wish him success in his next assignment" added Lord Robertson.
