MEDIA ADVISORY

A Conference of the NATO-Russia Council (NRC) on “The Role of the Military in Combating Terrorism” will be held on 9 December 2002, at the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation in Moscow following up on the first NATO-Russia conference on this topic held in Rome this February. This event will bring together senior civilian and military officials, with also a number of academics and practitioners in the field. Among the specific topics to be discussed participants will exchange views and experiences on military concepts and roles; crisis and consequence management; capabilities, exercises and training; as well on issues pertaining to wider security cooperation.

The keynote addresses at the Conference will be delivered by the Secretary General of NATO, Lord Robertson and the Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation, H.E. Sergei Ivanov.

The Conference will take place at the Russian Ministry of Defence, Znamenka Ulitsa, dom 19, entrance 7, Moscow.
