  2. A NATO-Russia Conference on “NATO-Russia Council and Defence Reform” will be held on 10 October 2002, at the NATO Defense College in Rome. The conference will aim to address a range of issues related to various defence reform experiences from both a Russian and Allies’ viewpoint. Anticipated topics of discussion include current requirements for armed forces, management of change, conduct and implementation of strategic defence reviews, as well as concrete projects of NATO-Russia cooperation.
    The event will bring together senior civilian and military officials, together with academics and practitioners in the field, in order to facilitate a transparent and lively discussion on the subject of importance for all members of the NATO-Russia Council.

    Lieutenant General Jean-Paul Raffenne, Commandant of the NATO Defense College will offer introductory remarks.

    The keynote addresses at the Conference will be given by the Deputy Secretary General of NATO, Ambassador Alessandro Minuto Rizzo and the Deputy Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation, Dr. Lyubov Kondratyevna Kudelina.
