Admiral Guido Venturoni (Italian Navy) handed over the chairmanship of the NATO Military Committee to General Harald Kujat (German Air Force) during a ceremony at NATO HQ on 3 July.
General Kujat was elected by NATO Chiefs of Defence on 20 November 2001 to become Chairman of the Military Committee - NATO's highest military decision-making authority. He is taking up his functions today for a set period of three years. He previously held positions both at NATO HQ, Brussels, and at the Supreme Headquarters, Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE), Mons.
