As part of a series of regular meetings between the North Atlantic Council (NAC) and the Political and Security Committee (PSC) of the European Union, a session was convened at the European Union Headquarters in Brussels on 25 June.

The meeting, chaired by the Secretary General of NATO, Lord Robertson as well as the Chairman of the Political and Security Committee, Ambassador Carles Casajuana of Spain, focused its discussions on NATO and EU contributions to the international fight against terrorism, the situation in the Balkans and progress made in initiatives for NATO-EU cooperation. In addition, NATO Secretary General Lord Robertson briefed EU officials on progress made during the Spring 2002 meetings of NATO Foreign and Defence Ministers and Admiral Venturoni, Chairman of the NATO Military Committee, gave an update on the military situation in Kosovo and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia 1.

Consultations between NATO and the EU on security, defence and crisis management issues have been intensifying consistently following decisions taken at the Washington Summit in 1999. High-level meetings between the NAC, NATO's top decision-making body, and the PSC have been taking place since February 2001.
