The second phase of a NATO Partnership for Peace exercise, Cooperative Nugget 2002, is taking place at Fort Drum Army Base in Watertown, New York, 19-27 June. This part of the exercise is a simulation of a crisis response operation in which five NATO and thirteen Partner countries are involved.

The exercise is also being held in two other sites: one for the Combined Joint Forces Land Component Commander Response Cell in Lisbon, Portugal, and the other for a Battalion Cell in Enkoping, Sweden. Cooperative Nugget 2002 comes under the command of the Supreme Allied Commander Atlantic (SACLANT). The first phase of the exercise took place 20-26 April in Sweden and consisted in a workshop on NATO's operational planning process.
