NATO Secretary General, Lord Robertson, will be visiting Albania -one of the Partner countries applying for NATO membership- on 17 January.
In Tirana, Lord Robertson will discuss progress made by Albania in meeting membership criteria with a number of senior government officials. He will meet with President Rexhep Meidani, Prime Minister Ilir Meta, Foreign Minister Arta Dade and Defence Minister Pandeli Majko. He will also meet with the Chairman of the Parliament, Namik Dokle, and members of the Parliamentary Commissions.
Of the nine countries aspiring to NATO membership, Lord Robertson has yet to visit Bulgaria, Latvia, Lithuania and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia¹, having travelled to Estonia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Romania late 2001.
