Two illegal arms caches were discovered by NATO-led peacekeeping troops in the village of Han Pijesak, situated in Bosnian Serb-controlled territory north-east of Sarajevo, which used to serve as a Bosnian Serb military headquarters during the Bosnian war.
The first cache, which was found on 29 October, contained rocket-propelled grenades, mortars, mines, surface-to-air missiles, ammunition and other weapons. Similar contents were found in the second cache of weapons, which was surrounded by mines. It was found on 30 October, while SFOR troops were investigating the previous day's discovery. It is not known whether the weapons had been left and forgotten, or were stored for future use.
