During a ceremony organised on 5 September, the Ambassador of Switzerland to NATO, Anton Thalmann, officially handed over an electronic system designed to manage NATO's Partnership for Peace programme (PfP) to a senior NATO official, Deputy Assistant Secretary General, Holger Pfeiffer.
The automated system, known as PRIME -Partnership Real-time Information, Management and Exchange- allows users from NATO HQ and member countries to plan and manage the Partnership Work Programme (PWP) and the Individual Partnership Programmes (IPPs) over a secure internet connection in real time.
PRIME was developed over a period of 8 months by a Swiss-Bulgarian team led by the Zurich-based International Relations and Security Network (ISN), in co-ordination with civilian and military staff at NATO HQ. Switzerland, which is a NATO partner, is strongly oriented toward the development of modern information technology.
