An overview of all current issues pertaining to NATO and its partners are being covered during a five-day meeting of the New Parliamentarian Initiative, 9-13 July. This is the second meeting organised by the NATO Parliamentary Assembly for this group, originally known as the Young Parliamentarian Initiative.

The New Parliamentarian Initiative brings together young parliamentarians and newly-elected parliamentarians from NATO and partner countries, with the aim of informing them on all issues related to the Alliance, including questions on NATO's strategic commands and relations with the European Union. This year, parliamentarians from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia are also participating. Sessions cover subjects ranging from operational and political overviews of the organisation to defence cooperation and economics.
