From 4-5 July, NATO Secretary General, Lord Robertson, is on an official visit to Ukraine where he will meet with government officials and participate in the NATO/Partnership for Peace (PfP) symposium organised in Kyiv by the Supreme Allied Commander Atlantic (SACLANT).
He will hold discussions with President Leonid Kuchma, Prime Minister Anatolyi Kinakh, Foreign Minister Anatolyi Zlenko, Defence Minister Olexandr Kuzmuk, the Secretary of the National Defence and Security Council Yevhen Marchuk, the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada -the Ukrainian Parliament- Ivan Plyushch and with parliamentarians.
Lord Robertson will also give a speech at the SACLANT symposium entitled "The world in the 21st century: cooperation, partnership and dialogue", which is taking place in the Ukrainian capital, 4-6 July. The symposium will be an opportunity to address issues such as the implications of globalisation on the economy and security in general, regional security challenges, changing roles in a changing world and security in the information age. Participants include NATO and PfP Ambassadors to Ukraine and other representatives from NATO and PfP countries, members of NATO's Military Committee, representatives from industry and think-tanks and other high-level officials.
