The Conference of National Armaments Directors (CNAD) met at NATO Headquarters for its biannual meeting on 3-4 May to assess the current status of major policy issues and projects under its purview.

The Armaments Directors were updated on NATO's Defence Capabilities Initiative (DCI) focusing on those issues where CNAD has the lead. They reviewed the status of the implementation of the NATO Armaments Review, which was designed to improve the Alliance's capacity to conduct operations by assisting member, and where appropriate Partner, nations to properly equip their forces and make them sufficiently interoperable. In particular, they reviewed the activities of the NATO Committee for Armaments Cooperation (NCAC) and the development of prototype Consolidated Alliance Capabilities Goals (CACGs) and Alliance Co-ordinated Armaments Requirements (ACARs).

The Armaments Directors also received updates on two major cooperative armaments programmes: Alliance Ground Surveillance and Theatre Missile Defence, and on the external adaptation of the CNAD focusing on partner participation in CNAD activities and NATO-Russia cooperation activities.
