Meeting of the EAPC/SFOR troop contributing nations Left to right: Mr. W. Petritsch talking with Ambassador S. Balanzino (Deputy Secretary General).

The High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ambassador Wolfgang Petritsch, met with NATO Secretary General, Lord Robertson, on 19 March, to examine recent developments in the peace process in that country. They expressed particular concern regarding the declaration made by the Bosnian-Croat HDZ political party at its Party Congress, early March, that it was withdrawing from the Federation government structures and expressing its support for the creation of a third entity within Bosnia and Herzegovina. Lord Robertson assured Ambassador Petritsch that NATO will continue to support his efforts in dealing with this challenge and any other development that could hinder the implementation of the Dayton Peace Agreement, signed in 1995.

Ambassador Petritsch also met with Ambassadors from the 44 member countries of the Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council (EAPC), which comprises NATO and partner countries, as well as with representatives of the SFOR troop contributing countries which are not members of the EAPC.
