Two seminars co-sponsored by NATO have recently been held in Moscow on the general theme of military reform. "European Trends in Military Restructuring", was the title of the first seminar, conducted jointly by the International Institute for Strategic Studies, London, and the Russian Public Foundation, from 28 February to 2 March.

Its aim was to allow participants to exchange views and acquire a better understanding of different military reform strategies being adopted throughout Europe. In addition, it analysed the lessons that could be drawn from recent experiences in this field, at a time when Russia is restructuring its own military forces.
