A project is currently underway to safely destroy stockpiles of anti-personnel landmines and munitions in Moldova. NATO's Maintenance and Supply Agency (NAMSA) is responsible for developing detailed plans for this project, namely to ensure the material assistance and the training of Moldovan military engineers to carry out the work.

This assistance project is the second to be initiated under NATO's Partnership for Peace Trust Fund on Anti-personnel Landmines Stockpile Destruction (see NATO Update 25 January 2001). The Netherlands is taking the lead on the project and will therefore be responsible for collecting the funds necessary to allow the destruction of these anti-personnel landmines and munitions.
