On 20 October, the Science Committee met in Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council (EAPC) format, bringing together representatives from NATO member countries and from Partner countries participating in the NATO Science Programme.

Among the activities reviewed was the creation of an International Risk Assessment Network for Cold War Facilities and Environmental Legacies, the subject of a briefing by collaborators from the US Department of Energy's Center for Risk Excellence (Dr. A.L. Young), and the Education Center "TRAOMD", Russia (Dr. E.A. Eremenko).

The Risk Assessment network will engage governmental and non-governmental entities responsible for management of Cold War Legacy Sites, in exchanging information, facilitating scientific collaboration, and establishing a training and exchange system for students. Thirteen countries have already agreed to participate in the network.

Also discussed was a presentation on the 'Economic Relaunch by Science' given by Prof. S. Lanyi of the Romanian Agency for Science, Technology and Innovation, and the Computer Network of the Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences, developed with NATO funding, presented by Prof. A. Abbasov, Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences.
