Northern security issues were discussed at a Rose-Roth seminar organised by the NATO Parliamentary Assembly (NATO PA) from 12 to 14 October in Copenhagen, Denmark. Debates focused on Atlantic security issues and more specifically, NATO's role in the new security environment, its relations with Russia, enlargement, transatlantic relations, peacekeeping operations and parliamentary oversight of the armed forces.
Participants came from NATO member delegations, associate member delegations of the NATO PA, including Russia which was participating for the first time since NATO's air campaign last year, and from observer delegations. The aim of the NATO PA's Rose-Roth seminars is to bring together young parliamentarians from NATO and partner countries and familiarise them with NATO-related issues and the Alliance's role in European security issues.
