The second phase of the submarine exercise Cooperative Poseidon took place from 9 to 13 October in Den Helder, The Netherlands - Phase 1 was held in Stockholm in March of this year.
This exercise aimed to develop common safety procedures between NATO and Partner countries in order to reduce the risk of submarine accidents. During Phase 1, Partners were introduced to NATO submarine safety procedures; during Phase 2, they were able to put these procedures into practice through computer simulations. A month earlier, a submarine rescue exercise code-named Sorbet Royal 2000 was also organised with Partners.
