Modern technology enabled senior NATO officials from different locations to discuss, on 2 October, the current situation in Kosovo. NATO Secretary General Lord Robertson, the Chairman of the Military Committee Admiral Venturoni, NATO Ambassadors and the outgoing commander of KFOR General Ortuño were able to assess progress made in KFOR missions before the Ministerial meetings next week.
The following day, they held another video-tele-conference with the High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina Ambassador Wolfgang Petritsch and the Commander of SFOR General Michael L. Dodson, to assess the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina. They discussed the progress made in the implementation of the 1995 Dayton Peace Agreement, covering general security matters, the political environment, military compliance and the role of defence reform in bringing about greater security to the country and its region. The situation in the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia was also raised.
