KFOR personnel have been assisting fire-fighters in Kosovo to put out bush and house fires throughout the province. Mainly sparked off by reflective debris such as broken glass, by cigarette ends and the burning of rubbish by the local population, these fires have affected several villages, in some cases destroying homes.

As the heat wave continues to hit central and southern Europe, fire-fighters reinforced by KFOR, are having to contend with the added difficulty of high winds and working in proximity of minefields and unexploded ordnance. The local population has been encouraged to be more vigilant as temperatures remain high.
