The land occupied by SFOR HQ at Camp Ilidza was officially transferred to the Municipality of Ilidza during a ceremony held on 18 May. The Mayor of Ilidza, Mr Husein Mahmutovic, was also given a cheque to help fund the restoration of the war-damaged area. "Today's event is one of the most significant milestones in the recent past of Bosnia and Herzegovina", the Mayor said. "This moment is the beginning of a real development process in the Municipality because all developing roads in Ilidza begin here".
Since the installation of the headquarters in this community in 1996, SFOR has helped to restore and improve facilities. The headquarters will now be moving from this suburb of Sarajevo to Camp Butmir on the outskirts of the capital.
