As a consequence of the role played by Italy during Operation Allied Force and the extent of its support in the Balkans, the Chief of Staff, Regional Headquarters (South), Lt. Gen. Carlo Cabigiosu, will be appointed as the next commander of KFOR.
At present, Lt. Gen. Juan Ortuño commander of Eurocorps, is at the head of KFOR headquarters (see NATO Update 12-18 April 2000) and will be until October 2000. This is a six-month rotational function previously held by the ACE Rapid Reaction Corps (ARRC) and LANDCENT.
