The Secretary General of NATO, Lord Robertson of Port Ellen will visit Rome, Italy on 8 May 2000. During this visit he will meet with the Prime Minister, Dr. Giuliano Amato, the Foreign Minister, Hon. Lamberto Dini, and the Defence Minister, Hon. Sergio Mattarella. The Secretary General will also deliver the keynote speech at the House of Deputies in Rome for an international conference "Prospects for Stability and Security in South-Eastern Europe", which is co-sponsored by NATO and the Centro Studi de Politica Internazionale (Ce.S.P.I.).
Secretary General Robertson and Foreign Minister Dini will jointly meet the press at the Italian Foreign Ministry at approximately 14:30.
