One year ago, NATO launched Operation Allied Force against President Milosovic's war machine. On the occasion of this anniversary, NATO Secretary General, Lord Robertson, presented his thoughts on achievements and challenges in Kosovo during a press conference, 21 March -thoughts which have been collated into a report: "Kosovo one year on".

He explained how the international community remained committed to maintaining peace and stability in the province, but stressed that local inhabitants had a fundamental role to play in the peaceful cohabitation of different ethnic groups in Kosovo. "Our intervention one year ago gave the Kosovars a unique opportunity. To build a future in peace and freedom. It is an opportunity to be grabbed," he stated.
