Two in a series of workshops on Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW) have recently taken place. The first was held on 16-17 March on the subject of export control and SALW transfers; the second on the marking and tracing of SALW, took place on 20-21 March. Representatives from most of NATO's 45 Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council member countries participated in these two workshops which aimed to encourage the exchange of information and develop common approaches on these specific issues. The workshops were organised within the framework of the EAPC Action Plan approved in November 1999 (See NATO Update 10-16 November 1999).
