Croatia's new Prime Minister, Ivica Racan, visited NATO Headquarters on 15 February where he met with the Secretary General and informally with members of the North Atlantic Council. During the visit, the Croatian Prime Minister reaffirmed his country's intention in joining the Partnership for Peace (PfP) Programme. NATO welcomed the recent political changes in Croatia and underscored the Alliance's willingness to work with Croatia as it progressed in meeting commitments made to the international community.

Croatia will be able to immediately take part as an observer in a number of specific PfP activities. NATO and Croatia will also hold expert level talks in the near future to develop a specially tailored cooperation programme of specific activities in which Croatia could participate in the future.
