Transatlantic relations and their evolution in the fields of security, peacekeeping and human rights, the Balkans, trade relations, economic cooperation and the emergence of the Euro, are some of the issues that will be debated in Rome, 13-14 January. The Aspen Institute, Italy, and the Philip Morris Institute for Public Policy Research have organised their annual conference around these issues which have a direct impact on the NATO relationship and US-EU relations.

NATO Secretary General, Lord Robertson, will address the conference on 13 January. He will also meet with the new Italian Defence Minister, Mr Sergio Mattarella and visit the NATO Defense College during his visit to Rome.
