The demilitarisation of the area of Brcko, in Bosnia and Herzegovina, is underway. A total of 2,500 weapons from disbanded units of the Muslim-Croat Federation were destroyed on 5 January. The destruction of more weapons from the Armed Forces of both entities (the Federation and the Republika Srpska which govern Brcko) will take place this month, in accordance with directives given by the NATO-led Stabilisation Force (SFOR) last September. Weapon disposal, the disbandment or the relocation of units are the three components of this demilitarisation programme.
