The North Atlantic Council will visit Italy on 9-11 September 1999. The North Atlantic Council will attend the inauguration ceremony of the new site of the NATO Defence College in Rome and will participate in the NATO co-sponsored International Conference on "Security and Stability in South-Eastern Europe" in Rome.

During the visit, the Secretary General of NATO, Dr. Javier Solana, will meet the President of the Republic of Italy Dr. Carlo Azeglio Ciampi and the Prime Minister of Italy, the Hon. Massimo D'Alema.

Following the meeting with Mr. D'Alema, the Secretary General of NATO and the Prime Minister of Italy will jointly meet the press at Palazzo Chigi in Rome at 17:45 on 9 September.
