The Secretary General of NATO, Dr. Javier Solana, welcomes the agreement between the Secretary General of the United Nations, Kofi Annan, and Iraq on a diplomatic solution to the Iraq crisis. This agreement was made possible by the diplomatic efforts and determined stance of the international community, including NATO Allies, in insisting on full compliance by Iraq with relevant UN Security Council Resolutions. It is now the responsibility of Iraq to implement in full the terms of the agreement, once endorsed by the United Nations Security Council, and to provide immediate, unconditional and unrestricted access to the UNSCOM inspectors.
