Le nouveau Secretaire general de l'OTAN, M. Javier Solana, prendra ses fonctions le 19 decembre 1995.

The new Secretary General of NATO, Mr. Javier Solana, will
take up his duties on 19 December 1995. He will arrive at
NATO Headquarters at 08.30 and will be welcomed at the
Main Entrance by the Deputy Secretary General, Ambassador
Sergio Balanzino.

Subsequently, the new Secretary General will meet with
close collaborators and senior NATO staff members.

Programme

08.30 Arrival of the new Secretary General at NATO's
Main Entrance. Welcome by Deputy Secretary General,
Ambassador Sergio Balanzino and the Director of the
Private Office, Dr. Klaus Scharioth. The new Secretary
General will briefly address the media.

OPEN coverage on a first-come-first-served
basis. Media wishing to cover the Secretary General's
arrival will be allowed onto the NATO premises from 07.30
onwards, and should take up their positions before 08.10.

Due to space restrictions the NATIP pool will
cover other events inside the Headquarters during the
morning and will produce video footage (for each video
cassette provided by NATIP an exchange cassette is
required) and still pictures, which will be available as
quickly as possible:

ACCREDITATION

Journalists wishing to cover the arrival of the new
Secretary General will be allowed onto the NATO premises
on presentation of a NATO accreditation pass or a valid
press pass.

PARKING

Correspondents are advised that they will not be able to
bring vehicles into the NATO compound.
