The Secretary General of NATO, Mr. Willy Claes, will visitCanada from Wednesday, 1 March, through Friday, 3 March1995. During the visit he will meet with the PrimeMinister, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and of Defence,members of the House of Commons, members of the CanadianForces Staff College and he will deliver a speech at theEmpire Club in Toronto.

In the morning of Thursday, 2 March, the Secretary Generalwill have meetings in Ottawa with the Minister of Defence,The Honourable David Collenette, the Prime Minister, TheRight Honourable Jean Chretien, and the Minister ofForeign Affairs, The Honourable Andre Ouellet. He willattend a lunch with parliamentarians and academics, hostedby the Foreign Minister.

The same day at 15:30, he will meet with the Chairman,Standing Committee for Foreign Affairs and InternationalTrade, Mr. Bill Graham, MP.

On Friday, 3 March, Mr. Claes will visit the CanadianForces Staff College in Toronto and the University ofToronto. He will deliver a luncheon speech at the EmpireClub on "The New NATO: Serving Canada's Interests".
