A NATO Advanced Research Workshop entitled "Cleaner
Technologies and Cleaner Products for Sustainable
Development" will be organized in conjunction with a
NATO/CCMS pilot study meeting on Pollution Prevention
Strategies for Sustainable Development.

Sixty environmental experts from 21 countries will meet
at the University of Food and Horticulture in Budapest,
Hungary. This meeting will provide a unique opportunity
to the researchers in the emerging field of pollution
prevention research to discuss the impressive
technological breakthroughs that may lead to the
elimination or reduction of many hazardous wastes.
Recent developments in the field of cleaner technologies
in industrialized countries will be discussed and
proposals will be made for the implementation of these
innovative technologies in Central and Eastern European
countries. One of the sessions will be devoted to
exploring programmes for enhancing pollution
prevention training and education. The participants
will also make recommendations to provide guidance to
others involved in researching pollution prevention
technologies.

Countries represented will be: Canada, Denmark, Germany,
Greece, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Turkey, UK, USA,
Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Lithuania, Latvia,
Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Ukraine as well as
Austria and Slovenia.
