NATO aircraft attacked a target within the Sarajevo Exclusion Zone this afternoon at the request of the United Nations Protection Force. The strikes were ordered following agreement between NATO and UNPROFOR, after weapons were seized by Bosnian Serbs from a weapons collection site near Sarajevo early this morning. NATO and UN military officials are assessing the results of the air strikes. Under the exclusion zone established by the North Atlantic Council, uncontrolled heavy weapons remaining in a 20 kilometer zone around Sarajevo after 21 February are subject to NATO air strikes.
