The Council met informally this afternoon with representatives of the Contact group to be briefed on the proposals submitted to the parties in Bosnia-Herzegovina today in Geneva. The Council expressed its strong support for the Contact Group's proposals and underlined NATO's continued preparedness to help implement an agreed peace plan or otherwise lend its weight to the peace process. Following this briefing, the Council will now examine implications for NATO and the ways in which the Alliance can assist in the realisation of the Contact Group's proposals.

Briefers of the Contact Group were:

Mr. Charles Redman (U.S.)
Mr. David Manning (U.K.)
