INFORMATION

NATO's Defence Ministers will hold a meeting in the Maritim
Kurhaushotel in Travemonde, Germany, from 19-21 October 1993 under the
chairmanship of NATO Secretary General Manfred Worner. The German
Minister of Defence, Volker Rohe, will act as host. A Media Centre will
be established in the Maritim Strandhotel, Travemonde, situated next to
the place of meeting.

ACCREDITATION

Journalists who wish to cover the meeting should send in their
applications for accreditation no later than Friday, 1 October. The
pre-printed "Request for Accreditation" attached to this announcement
should be submitted to the Pressestab of the German Ministry of Defence
(address see overleaf).

Press passes will be available for collection at the accreditation desk
in the "Maritim Seehotel" in Timmendorfer Strand on production of a
valid press card or other photographic proof of identity. Media are
invited to pick up their passes between 12:00 and 22:00 on Tuesday, 19
October. Inside the Media Centre passes must be worn at all times and
photographic proof of identity must be shown on request.

TRANSPORT

Journalists should arrange for their own transport. The nearest
commercial airport is Hamburg-Fuhlsbttel, about one hour's drive from
Travemnde. The nearest railheads are Lbeck or Travemnde Strand. A
map of the location is attached.

The German authorities have provisionally reserved rooms for the media

EARLY BOOKING IS ADVISED as these reservations only hold until 1
October 1993. MEDIA CENTRE AND FACILITIES

Media Centre opening hours are:

Tuesday, 19 October: 12:00-22:00
Wednesday, 20 October: 08:00-22:00
Thursday, 21 October: 08:00-18:00

All news conferences and briefings will be held in the Media Centre.
The press working area will be equiped with typewriters, copiers, and a
telecommunication bureau. The bureau will operate a free voice
messaging system for all incoming calls. The outgoing service includes
telephones, fax and a direct transmission facility for personal
computers. Telex transmission can be arranged on request.

There will be a bar and restaurant in the Media Centre.

Media will not be allowed access to the conference site (at walking
distance), except for special events such as arrivals, opening
ceremony, family portrait, etc.

PROGRAMME

The final programme will be provided with accreditation passes at the
Media Centre. Details are not finalised, but the meeting will start at
about 09:00 on 20 October and the final news conference will be about
lunchtime on 21 October. Photo-opportunities covering arrivals may be
available on 19 October.

PARKING AND ON-SITE TRANSPORTATION

Parking is available at the Maritim Seehotel. A regular shuttle service
between the Maritim Seehotel (at the same time accreditation desk) and
the conference site, (10-15 min. driving time) will be available.
