NATO Secretary General Manfred Worner has appointed Dr. Jamie Shea to
the posi- tion of NATO Spokesman and Deputy Director, Office of
Information and Press. Dr. Shea takes up his duties on 1 July.

Dr. Jamie Shea was born in 1953 and is of British nationality. Since
1980 he has been a member of the NATO International Staff where he has
served in a variety of functions, the most recent being Senior Planning
Officer and Speechwriter to the Secretary General. Dr. Shea obtained
his Doctorate in Modern History from Oxford University, and has been an
Associate Professor at Michigan State University, where he taught
courses on security policy and European politics.
