У четвер, 1 жовтня 2026 року, Генеральний секретар НАТО Марк Рютте відправився до Мюнстера для відвідування Першого німецько-нідерландського корпусу разом з Федеральним канцлером Німеччини Фрідріхом Мерцем і Прем’єр-міністром Нідерландів Робом Єттеном.
Генеральний секретар подякував Федеральному канцлерові Німеччини і Прем’єр-міністрові Нідерландів за їхню рішучість. Перший німецько-нідерландський корпус вважається найкращим прикладом того, що «європейські союзники активізуються і роблять більше для оборони цієї частини території НАТО. Сильніша Європа в сильнішій НАТО», – наголосив пан Рютте.
У разі бойових дій ця штаб-квартира, де 16 країн НАТО працюють разом пліч-о-пліч, спроможна командувати міжнародними силами із 50 тисяч військовослужбовців для оборони Естонії і Латвії.
Пізніше, того ж дня, пан Рютте отримав від імені НАТО Міжнародну премію Вестфалії за мир від Економічного товариства Вестфалії та Ліппе.
На церемонії нагородження в історичній ратуші Мюнстера пан Рютте зазначив, що для нього велика честь отримати «цю премію від імені НАТО, і всіх неймовірних людей, з яких складається Альянс. Саме вони – цивільні і військові – щодня виконують важку роботу, підтримуючи безпеку одного мільярда наших людей в Європі і Північній Америці».
«Понад 75 років місія НАТО полягає в запобіганні війні, захисті території і населення Альянсу і збереженні миру. І це ми продовжуємо робити щодня. Перед обличчям реальних і тривалих загроз ми подвоюємо наші зусилля зі зміцнення нашої оборони. Швидше і разом», – сказав пан Рютте.
Говорячи про перелік зловмисних гібридних атак в Європі, який зростає, і в світлі неспровокованої війни Росії проти України, Генеральний секретар дав чіткий сигнал: «Зберігайте спокій, продовжуєте своє робити і підтримуйте Україну».
