Генеральний секретар НАТО Єнс Столтенберг в п’ятницю, 16 лютого 2024 року, сказав, що він «глибоко засмучений і стурбований» повідомленнями про смерть російського лідера опозиції Олексія Навального. «Всі факти мають бути встановлені і Росія має відповісти на серйозні запитання», – сказав пан Столтенберг по прибутті на Мюнхенську безпекову конференцію. «Ми продовжуємо підтримувати кожного, хто вірить у демократію і свободу, як це робив Олексій Навальний протягом багатьох років».
