НАТО і Бюро ООН з боротьби проти наркотиків і злочинності (UNODC) на конференції в Ашгабаті, Туркменістан, в травні 2015 року оголосили про початок нового проекту з підготовки фахівців з боротьби проти наркотиків. У проекті беруть участь п’ять країн Центральної Азії – Казахстан, Киргизстан, Таджикистан, Туркменістан і Узбекистан, а також Афганістан і Пакистан. Цей проект продовжує подібну ініціативу, розроблену під егідою Ради НАТО-Росія, яка була призупинена внаслідок агресивних дій Росії проти України.
