В ходе своего трехдневного визита (15-18 февраля 2015 г.) в Сидней и Канберру председатель Военного комитета НАТО генерал Кнуд Бартельс поблагодарил Австралию за ее вклад в операции и миссии под руководством НАТО, а также обсудил расширенное военное сотрудничество и оперативную совместимость между НАТО и Австралией. После встречи с командующим силами обороны Австралии главным маршалом авиации Марком Бинскином и министром обороны Австралии г-ном Деннисом Ричардсоном председатель отметил необходимость «широкого и практического сотрудничества, чтобы учиться друг у друга, обмениваться передовой практикой и разрабатывать общие стандарты, потому что НАТО и Австралию связывает крепкое партнерство, и они привержены укреплению способности взаимодействовать для того, чтобы лучше противодействовать будущим глобальным вызовам».
